The Hagia Sophia

What I didn't mention yesterday was the Hagia Sophis was built in 537 by the Byzantine emporer Justinian. It was converted to a mosque in 1453. In 1935 it became a museum.   The original structure is still standing.  Pictures will not show how big the columns are or how the ceilings are completely covered in mosaics of Jesus that were made 1500 years ago.  The floors are made of giant marble slabs that are seven of my paces long (maybe that is not giant but its big:).   And they are worn down in the middle from all the people walking on them.  and the pic of the marble jar -it was taller than me and carved from one piece of marble.
