It's hard to believe that over a
100 000 soldiers died on these beaches and the surrounding hills. It's so gorgeous. The Turkish government has turned the entire pennisula into a memorial for the soldiers who died there. Each country has it's own memorial We visited The Turkish, New Zealand And Australian memorials. 48 Newfoundlanders died there too. Don't know if the Newfoundlanders got their own memorial or not. I know Canada doesn't have one there but they weren't Canadians then (and I think many of them would argue they still Aren't).
